The Intersection of Fish Health and Sustainable Aquaculture

Results

The study’s findings revealed significant results in both feed performance and overall harvest quality categories. While there was no statistically significant difference in total farm mortality between the groups, it was observed that farms with above-average EPA + DHA levels had a narrower interquartile range compared to those with below-average levels. Notably, feed performance was strongly associated with high EPA + DHA levels. Feed with above- average levels of EPA + DHA delivered an 11% improvement in economical feed conversion ratio (eFCR). This demonstrates how higher EPA + DHA levels can positively influence one of the main cost for farmers. Additionally, when farmers used above-average levels of EPA + DHA, their chance of having a superior harvest quality above 90% increased by 27%. These findings emphasize the importance of optimizing EPA + DHA levels in feed formulations to enhance aquaculture productivity and economic efficiency.
